Notice
of Race

- Rules —
1.1
- The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The
Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
1.2 - The following rules will be
changed. These changes will appear in full in the Sailing
Instructions.
(a)
RRS App A2 will be changed to provide that when fewer than 3
races are completed a boats score will be the total of her
race scores.
(b)
RRS 26 and App A4.1 will be changed to provide that a boat
starting later than five (5) minutes after her starting signal
will be scored Did Not Start (DNS).
(c)
RRS 35 will be changed to provide that the time limit for each
race will be two hours and the Mark 1 time limit will be 60
minutes.
(d)
RRS 35 and App A4.1 will be changed to provide that boats
failing to finish within thirty (30) minutes after the first
boat finishes will be scored Did Not Finish (DNF).
(e)
RRS App A will be changed to provide that a boat that does not
finish or retires after finishing will be scored points for
the finishing position one more than the last place finisher.
(f)
RRS 66 will be changed to provide that on the last day of the
regatta, a request to reopen a hearing shall be delivered
within the protest time limit if the party requesting
reopening was informed of the decision on the previous day or
no later than 30 minutes after the party requesting reopening
was informed of the decision on that day.

- Advertising — will be restricted to Category A.
3 -
Eligibility & Entry —
3.1 - The regatta is open to any boat that complies
with the current NCESA Class Rules.
3.2 - Skippers and crew must be in good standing with
the NCESA. (You may register and pay NCESA Dues at time of
registration)
3.3
– Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached entry
form, including a signed Liability Waiver and submitting it
along with the required fees, proof of insurance, and
USSailing member #, to Todd Collins, 1389 N East Torch Lake
Dr; Central Lake MI 49622.
3.4
– Late entries will be accepted up to 9:00am on Saturday,
July 19th.
4 - Fees — Required fees are as
follows:
Registration Fee – $85
for USSailing members; $95 for non-USSailing members.
Lunches – Pay as you go.

7 - Sailing Instructions — will be available at registration.
8 - Venue — will be Torch Lake near the Torch Lake Yacht Club,
Antrim County, Michigan.
9 - Courses — will be Windward/Leeward,
two (2) laps, finishing downwind.
9.1 - An offset mark (Mk 1a) may be used.
9.2 - A leeward gate (Mks 3S & 3P) may be used at the end of a leeward
leg. When used, boats shall sail between the marks and round
either mark.
10 - Scoring —
10.2 - Six (6) races are scheduled, of which one (1)
race shall be completed to constitute a series.
10.3
- When fewer than 3 races have been completed, a boats score
will be the total of her race scores. This changes RRS A2.

- Support Boats —Team leaders, coaches and other support personnel
shall stay outside areas where boats are racing from the time
of the preparatory signal for the first Fleet to start until
all boats have finished or the race committee signals a
postponement, general recall, or abandonment.
12 - Launching & Berthing — Launching and boat storage will
be at TLYCC. Trailer parking will be at several locations near
TLYC.
14 - Radio Communication — A boat shall neither make radio
transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications
not available to all boats. This restriction applies to mobile
telephones.

- Prizes — will be awarded to places 1 – 5 plus Perpetual Trophies.
16 - Disclaimer Of Liability — Competitors participate in the
regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to
Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability
for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in
conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
17 - Insurance — Each participating boat shall be
insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
minimum cover of $300,000 per event or the equivalent.
